Movie Review : Deiva Thirumagal

When Deiva Thirumagal’s trailers were out, they resembled the scenes of Hollywood flick “I Am Sam”.I keep on saying not interested to watch the movie as i know the story and the songs din attract me either. But it is a daring attempt by director Vijay to handle such an off-beat storyline.
The reason i watch the movie was baby sarah yes the little girl was the one attracted me,after watching her interview's.

Story

It is about a mentally challenged person whose mental growth is equal to a child of age 5, has a daughter (how is it possible is a question mark which is answered in the film itself - Answer : To make things happen when two people are involved, it is enough if one of them is thorough with the process). The girl grows with the father till the age of 5, and is separated and taken away by her grand father, who runs a chain of schools across the state. Anushka, a lawyer meets Vikram and knowing the plight of his life decides to take legal steps to unite Vikram & his daughter. As the law says, a mentally challenged person cannot be the sole caretaker of a child but then by all of us knows how the movie ends.As i know many dont really agree with the ending.

Cast

Baby Sarah - was delight to watch, and she gives us joy and sorrow.
Anushka  -  is lovable as always.
Santhanam - is the only person who makes us laugh in this slow paced movie and loved his  tea coffe dialog.
Vikram - should be praised for his acting skills .

Songs (my fav)
  • Aarariro - The song emotionally binds us to the core, repeated hearing for a wonderful renditiion by Haricharan and beautiful rhythm.
    •  Vizhilagil Ore Vaanavil - The slow-paced melody draws me with its engaging tune and rendition by Saindhavi. This is precisely a slow poison and will surely haunt our senses.

    Comments

The first half test my patience. It is like watching a Tortoise on Slow Motion. Though the director has no other options to show the bond between the father and girl. Second half is ok, as the script tries to the keep us guessing and the end of cos unpredictable.
